Crystal Chandeliers - Watt an idea!

Some years ago chandeliers reeked of ostentatious wealth amongst the glitterati also. But they are so charming and lend a royal look to a room that they simply must be added to a room where guests are entertained. Crystal chandeliers are materialistic but installing them is not longer a symbol of the noveau rich. With lovely looks they are back in the drawing rooms and dinning rooms of even the middle class. While the larger variety adorns the long rectangular dinning rooms of the rich and famous, the smaller ones make it to the living and bed rooms of the middle class. Chandeliers have an inherent beauty that lights up the room, right from the time royalties across the world used them to illuminate their palaces and castles.

Contemporary chandeliers are used for many reasons. Those who install them do so to add elegance, luxury, lift up the drab room, highlight the interior décor and show off their tastes to friends, relatives and buddies. Interior designers have used creative means to bring up single layered or tiered chandeliers in ordinary homes too. The choice of a chandelier should be done with the help of a professional designer. The right choice will uplift the theme of the room and the wrong choice will spoil the entire look. For example a single layered crystal chandelier is ideal for dinning areas, foyer, bedroom or even corridors. If the drawing room is large (read size of a ball room) then have a layered or a tiered crystal chandelier. It will add a regal look to the room.

Crystal chandeliers are expensive. Don’t expect any cost cutting. Rather a judicious selection will facilitate its long term investment and maintenance. Chandelier replacements are not like light replacements. They can be costly. A heavy chandelier for a small room is disastrous. Hence before installation measure the room for a proper fit. Rustic chandeliers made with wrought iron bring back memories of ball room dancing with millions of tiny lights dancing to the music. With these wrought iron lampshades or leather ones are perfect accessories. The room also should have a rustic and earthy tone for such a chandelier to fit. Modern chandeliers come with electric lighting unlike candlit ones of ancient days. Fixtures of candles like bulbs are impressive too and give the texture of lighting required for special evenings-so that guests walk away with unique memories.
